Gotta be startin' somethin'

The title comes from my favorite tee of all time - a 1980s lime green wonder with white fuzzy bubble iron-on letters and white piping. Sadly it is no more... another hapless victim of chocolate fondue.

As for me, I'm a recent Ph.D., from North America, now living overseas, fairly broke but relatively content, and waiting to hear if I got a job. To distract myself, I've started this blog. Plus I promised myself that after I finished the dissertation that I would get a life. Not sure this counts but it's a start.

To be honest, the stuff I teach and research is pretty much a total downer, so this experiment is not about that (although it may leak in) - it is about other stuff I like, I think about and I make (OK, the 'make' part is pretty much wishful thinking at the moment). Ghostbusters. Cool boots. 1970s textiles. In other words, we'll be swimming mostly in the shallow end of the pool around here.
